Occupation Culture: A Conversation led by Alan Moore
Thursday May 19th at 7 pm

Please RSVP via EventBrite!
Join artist/writer/activist Alan Moore for a lively conversation with Carla Cubit and Marta R. Dann about the relationship between vacant space and artistic expression. Moore was an original member of Colab, the artists collective that famously created ABC No RIO. Both his professional and academic work seeks to correct the marginalization of artists who lived in squats and showed their work in subcultural venues. Cubit and R.Dann are both artists whose work is deeply influenced by years living in squatted buildings. They’ll discuss such fantastical downtown creations as Umbrella House, the Rivington School and Garbagia.
In an effort to make digital knowledge as open as space could be, Moore’s put his book Occupation Culture online for all to read.

In collaboration with ABC No Rio.
