SUNDAYS, 12:00 – Roots of Radicalism and Activism Tour –ON HOLD UNTIL MID-NOVEMBER
Come explore some cutting-edge, sustainable buildings and spaces on this one-of-a kind, full-access walking tour. The tour begins with a short slide show introducing participants to the roots of radicalism and activism in the neighborhood and continues with a walking tour and mobile historical slide show highlighting both existing and lost sites of grassroots activism.
This tour is led by Fly, a veteran artist and activist from the Lower East Side.
SUNDAYS, 3:00 — Radical Alphabet City Tour
Come visit legendary historic sites where the community faced off with gentrification and corporate power. Peek inside vibrant community gardens and legendary tenement buildings, Tompkins Square Park, the first community-based recycling center and the symbol of gentrification, The Christodora House.
ALL TOURS START AT THE MUSEUM AT 155 AVENUE C, COST $20 AND ARE LED BY LOCAL ACTIVISTS WHO HAVE WITNESSED THE NEIGHBORHOOD’S RADICAL HISTORY AND THRIVING COMMUNITY SPIRIT FIRSTHAND.
